The Help' is a debut novel written by Kathryn Stockett and recently, the movie has been released as well. Have you read 'The Help'? No! Well, you really should have. It is gritty and yet a lovely read. Amusing in places, incredibly sad in others. I loved it. You will too. Give 'The Help' a try. the movie or the book - Both are worthy

I love that every book/series gets its own page with additional information in between. The only reason I knocked a star off is for one section: "How to Read a Literary Text.

Eventually, Skeeter wins Aibileen's trust through a friendship which develops while Aibileen helps Skeeter write a household tips column for the local newspaper.

This ultimately serious book made me laugh out loud in spots. The way he plays off famous self-help and relationship books to prove his points is clever and lightens the subject, too(think: Eat Pray Love & Then Get Fired for Spending So Much Time Away from Work)

The way he plays off famous self-help and relationship books to prove his points is clever and lightens the subject, too(think: Eat Pray Love & Then Get Fired for Spending So Much Time Away from Work). It's almost as though he covered my political broccoli with laughs as cheese sauce. My mother did that and it was a smart way to get me to eat my vegetables. It's hard to imagine finding anything funny about Washington these days, This ultimately serious book made me laugh out loud in spots.

This book takes place in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960's. This story is told through the eyes of three women. Skeeter who is twenty two has just returned home to join her family after graduating. keeter soon realises that, Constantine the family maid who also helped raise, Skeeter as a baby is no longer a part of their family. Constantine has been a huge part of, Skeeter's life and she's desperate to know where she is, but her mother is not giving anything away
