John Victor Hicks (1907 - 1999) was a Canadian poet. He was born in London, England but his parents immigrated to New Brunswick while he was still an infant. The Hicks family later settled in Montreal where Hicks wrote that he discovered as a boy "the very first whisper of the magic of writing.

According to Hicks, the economic organisation of a community must be done in such a way that the working force . According to Hicks the stationary state is a special case of dynamic system. In such a state, tastes, techniques and resources remain stationary over a given period of time.

He means to say that persons with particular qualifications and talents should be employed on those jobs for which they are best suited or where their talent can be best utilised. Again in such a state, the problem of distinguishing between actual price and expected price, income and commodities, money and real rate of interest, is not felt.

I can date my own personal 'revolution' rather exactly to May or June 1933.

Sir John Hicks (8 April 1904 – 20 May 1989) was a British economist. He was considered one of the most important and influential economists of the twentieth century. The most familiar of his many contributions in the field of economics were his statement of consumer demand theory in microeconomics, and the IS/LM model (1937), which summarised a Keynesian view of macroeconomics.
