ELIE WIESEL ARMSTRONG SPACE STATION A FEW HOURS LATER . Air Force Brigadier General Kai Raydon expertly sailed across the command module and precisely attached himself to the commander’s console. with perfectly placed touches of Velcro sneakers. He still remembered what it was like to float around in zero-g-what most Earth-bound folks called weightlessness -for the first time. It simply took practice to get used to the fact that there was no gravity to help you orient your body-every action has to be counteracted with an opposite action.

I have been a Dale Brown fan since the late 1980's. I have also been a fan of Patrick McLanahan and the Old Dog series and have followed the characters as if they were actual living beings. I looked forward to Executive Intent for months, but after finely getting it, it was very disappointing. I read it on my Kindle, which as most of you know gives a percentage line at the bottom of the page. I was shocked to see that from approximately 20% into the story that the next 60% was basically technical information on why the story was happening. You can't sit on the edge of your chair waiting for the next action move with this story. Hopefully Mr. Brown can get us back to sitting on the edge of our chairs again.

Not one of Brown's better books. Action is sooooooo slow. The White House Administration is obviously Obama-esque, as the President and his aides refuse to believe the Russians and Chinese are purposely taking out American targets without a response from the US. If you're going to read it, skip to the last 30 pages or so and you'll spare yourself a lot of time getting peeved at the White House, Russians, and Chinese, and you can go on to read another book.

I believe I have seventeen or so Dale Brown Novels in my bookcase and most of them I really enjoyed. However, as Brown has advanced Patrick McClanahan to retired general status, the stories have become just a bit uncomfortable and implausable for me. The American Holocost was where I decided that I had gone as far as I could with the techno wizadry and Brown's version of the world. I had hopes that this latest book might be a return to something like the earlier times. What I got was a dash of this and a dash of that. We have a new president who has outlooks much like the current one we have and a female Secretary of State who has a very large agenda. At least Brown didn't have to dream those two up. The Vice President is one which we could really use right now, however.

In this book, China and Russia are conniving to get the US out of using space as a defensive weapons environment and they are doing a very good job of it as the president doesn't want to do anything to antagonize or stand up to our adversaries. I won't divulge how this crisis is dealt with, but I will say it is highly unlikely in the real world.

Three stars means "It's OK." And it is. It just isn't what we used to get from this author.

I haven't finished reading the story, but it is very up-to-date time-wise on the theme of the book dealing with various situations between China, Russia and the USA. I very much enjoyed reading about being "up in space" and felt like I was there with Dale Brown's characters. In some instances, the story line was a real eye opener to me. The story is getting better and better and Brown's stories always leave me wanting more and anxious to read another of his books.

Dale Brown begins the story as if he was preparing a canvas, putting in the background first with recent live news commentary pertaining to what the main world powers are doing or contemplating to update their weaponry. Then the narrative begins with live action in the air. No messing about! He doesn't waste your time with trivia. The canvas is now ready for the main characters including Patrick McLanahan in riviting nonstop action. Another masterpiece from Dale Brown.

The entire series is good but this one is special. Great characters. Very real! Nice story line. Better than some of the later books. A good read evennon its own.
Dale Brown comes through again creating a riveting talk esse filled with suspense. You'd be foolish enough to not give this book a try, and be sure to read the entire series.
