This is a collection of 25 short stories by 28 authors (including 3 co-authors) so you get a lot for your money. They are of mixed length and quality and, like most short story collections, you will like some better than others. You can read them in any order. You will find some of your favorite authors, and some new to you. Some of the authors are well established, and some are just starting out. I have read and reviewed full novels by many of the authors, and the collection provides me with some leads to others. Short story collections are always a good way to sample authors.

In the Introduction, Lee Child notes the difficulties for a new writer to get started. The days of pulp fiction and slick magazines are long gone. However, ezines have emerged. The problem is that ezines and small press literary magazines come and go from the scene. I did find one editor that liked my short stories and published two in ezines - but on the verge of publishing a third, she folded up shop and moved on to do other things. So it takes some hard work to keep track of emerging venues for publishing and to match up with an editor.

The International Thriller Writers has provided an opportunity for some emerging writers, both in this collection and earlier collections. They are worth sampling. Earlier collections pointed me to some very good novels that I read and reviewed on Amazon. I expect that this collection will do the same.

Maybe I am not used to reading short stories. Perhaps I prefer to have an author slowly flesh out the plot and let that gain momentum for me to derive pleasure from a story. In saying that, this leads me to having been disappointed with what I usually gain pleasure from. Well crafted stories.

Some of the short stories were good, others not so. I know this is a matter of personal taste so it would be impossible to say that any of the stories were bad.

Most of the stories seemed to skim across the surface and were over before they really developed and held my attention. This I found unrewarding. Surprisingly I was not appreciative of some of the more 'famous' contributors to the eBook.

Unless you really prefer to read short stories I would avoid this title. If you really like the complexities and involvement of a plot to give you pleasure in your reading, then steer you attention towards fully fledged novels. This would not be for you.

This is an extremely disappointing book.save for two or three of the stories the rest were certainly not thrillers by any stretch of imagination and I do not see why must I read about the process of a bowel movement(assisted by the protagonist and described in minutest detail) in a collection of so called thrillers.I also bought the following books in the series on the good reputation of the editors, and found multiple repetitious content as well as below standard writing. Lee child's name should not be associated with this material.

This collection did not rate as high with me as the anthologies Thriller and Thriller 2. The majority were quite lackluster given the caliber of writers assembled. It seems they dusted off mediocre efforts and to be truthful there is not one entry where I was blown away. I like aspects of some of the stories like the bodyguard profession in Child's contribution but the story itself did not satisfy. And the revenge scenario with an 'ever-so-slight twist' became common by the fifth tale resulting in repetitive plots. I felt like it was cashing in on the success and demand from previous collections without providing the same level of content. Still I do not want to absolutely beat up on it - there are a number of stories here that other readers may enjoy and it could be a fine companion on a plane or beach as a breezy read.

I'm not sure where the problem arose but there was a lot of grammatical and missing word mistakes throughout. I don't know if it was original editing or when it was digitally produced for Kindle, but it was enough to be noticeable. And many of the stories made no sense there was no beginning and no end just a bunch of swirling twists that made no sense .

I had to give up reading these after about 25% of these because they were just not interesting. The only that was any good was the one by Lee Child. One was really creepy. My suspicion is the authors did not have time to develop their characters.
This was an exciting journey, every story grabbed me and held me. What a diversion and a reading thrill! I want more, and will enjoy finding more from each of these talented writers. Thank you!
