This is a great book for introducing the concept of growing plants from seeds. The information is presented simply but with plenty of details. My first grade students really enjoyed the story. I read it to them. Many of them picked it up on their own to reread later. I used it in conjunction with a project in which we planted our own beans and watched a bean plant grow. The book gave the students a good idea of what would happen to their sprouting plant after they took it home. This is an element that was missing when I had done this project previously. I highly recommend this text to parents and teachers wanting to read an educational book to their children or students about how plants grow.

Now this is a perfect book for a young child to get the explanation of growing a bean. A simple , well illustrated story line with easy to understand idea of seed to plant to seed eg the growing cycle. If you have a little one and have a bean ( I suggest green bean) and want to read and show by example how to take a bean and get it to grow to get more beans this delightful book will help you to do just that. I have a 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter who has experienced growing seeds in a garden this year but if you only have one bean, a little pot and some sun and soil you too can give this experience to a little one. It makes Jack and the Beanstalk seem like it could actually have happened ...almost anyway. It says a lot about the miracle of growing and nature. Highly recommended. Pre school in my opinion. 5 stars even if only 4 show here.

This book does a great job of explaining the process of growth. It was a bit longer than I wanted to use for a preschool circle time so I ended up writing my own. The book is great though and I intend to still read it, I will just divide it up into two readings. The kids did really enjoy looking at the pictures too!

This is a cute book... I use it with pre-k classes to introduce an activity that involves planting one bean in a plastic bag with a paper towel. The kids get to watch the bean sprout.

Too wordy for a preschool class but just right for either a Kindergarten or First grade lesson/experiment. Very well illustrated. I had to skip parts of this book for the lesson being presented. I intend to keep this book should I teach a first to third grade class.

I always read this book to my Pre K's and Kindergarteners in the early Spring, and then each child "plants" a lima bean seed on a damp paper towel inside a zip lock baggie. Thanks to this book, they know exactly what to watch for, and why it is happening!

great for preschoolers, does a good job in simple language and illustration of describing what happens in the growth of a bean. Keeps it easy for preschoolers to have a beginning understanding of the growth of plants
Great story! I used this with my preschoolers during out planting unit.
