I am an African American female who enjoys outdoor recreation and feel this book should be a staple in any outdoor and/or nature center's collection. It inspired me, since there isn't much material out there that depicts minorities, especially African Americans, taking part in outdoor recreation activities. Then author Dudley Edmondson showcased many amazing people of color who live work and play in the outdoors. The seller however, noted that the book was good as new and had the booklet with it.

Today, African Americans identify plenty of places they wouldn’t want to live. One resident in the suburbs of Baltimore told me proudly that he looked for a house all of five miles past where he lived, a place most blacks don’t go, because you know, there could be problems there. What they worry about, he said, was the Klan. An African American judge once recounted to me the number of times her husband was stopped, and followed home, after coming home from work or evening church meetings.

Take a coast-to-coast tour of the most haunted places in America, where lingering spirits roam through the halls of hotels, abandoned insane asylums, Broadway theaters, and even a city zoo. And if ghosts aren't your go-to travel. And if ghosts aren't your go-to travel companions, fear not-these sites offer enough culture, history, and beautiful scenery and architecture to keep you firmly planted in this realm. Prisoners lived alone, exercised alone, and ate alone; when an inmate left his cell, a guard would cover his head with a hood so he couldn't see or be seen.

Story of an African prince sold into slavery in America. The Eyes of Willie McGee: A Tragedy of Race, Sex, and Secrets in the Jim Crow South. Martin Luther King Jr and his wife Coretta leading a Peace March in Georgia. This man was a true American nothing like Obama. The heart-rending real-life story that inspired To Kill a Mockingbird.

Mr. Minter and his wife are so kind and knowledgeable about life that you can spend an hour just listening to their wisdom. I called ahead to let them know I was coming, and was greeted upon my arrival. Joe and Hilda Minter are beautiful souls, and Joe's art tells a much needed perspective on Black history in America.
