After his adventures under sun-drenched Neapolitan skies in Cosi Fan Tutti, Aurelio Zen finds himself back in Rome, sneezing in a damp wine cellar and being given another unorthodox assignment: to release the jailed scion of an important wine-growing family who is accused of a brutal murder. Dibdin is best known for his Aurelio Zen mysteries, set in Italy  . This is a book in which we discover there is no Moriarty and that Holmes himself is Moriarty (although Dibdin gives readers the comfort of an ambiguous ending with Holmes telling Watson that Moriarty has framed him masterfully). Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic character has served as source material for many writers. Aurelio Zen-cynical and tough, yet worn down from years of law enforcement-has just been given the worst assignment he could imagine.
