By (author) Marcel Danesi. Quizzes and exercises focus on verbs and their correct usage in Italian, stressing typical examples of usage in both written sentences and spoken dialogues, and includes special emphasis on conjugations.

The Practice Makes Perfect series has helped thousands learn the basics of Italian, from vocabulary to prepositions, verbs, and beyond.

Here is a fine new, user-friendly supplementary language worktext for students enrolled in high school and college-level Italian courses, as well as for those who know some Italian but want to work independently to improve their knowledge of Italian verbs. The book is divided into five main sections: verbs' present indicative tenses; their past indicative tenses; future and conditional tenses; subjunctive tenses, and the imperative and other tenses. Verbs are presented with fundamental conjugation information, illustrative dialogues, and additional learning features that include crossword puzzles, tips and notes on verb usage, and a review chapter that concludes each of the book's five sections. The book is filled with exercises designed to improve students' fluency in speaking, writing, and comprehending Italian. The type is set in two colors.

I've studied conversational Italian with the Pimsleur method for more than 5 years. I did courses 1-3 (4-5 times per CD!) and got so good that I can converse somewhat comfortably when I'm in Italy or speaking with an Italian, as long as the conversation is fairly mundane. (I don't know words for politics, astrophysics or nuclear science, for instance...)

So last year, in a frenzy of enthusiasm to learn to read and write, I bought this verb workbook and five other Italian grammar books off Amazon. I've just finally started in on this one - in the 4th chapter - and I wish I'd begun with this one first. Absolutely SPECTACULAR! I'm concisely learning the WHY, the correct usage and how to think when I'm speaking. It's exceptionally well done.

I think this is an incredibly helpful workbook for someone who doesn't have time/patience to take a class or someone like me who wants to get it right and remember everything perfectly. This book is truly "best in class".

PS- I can see how the other review about it not being useful on Kindle would be true, as there are some very important charts and workbook pages that are best done in print format.

I have purchased several books from Amazon for my self-study of Italian. Some were awful (I just posted a review of "Learn Italian in 7 Days" -- a complete waste of money), but I have found this workbook to be great! I highly recommend it to anyone learning Italian on their own, or as a supplement to a class. And if you're looking for good basic books to go along with this one, I recommend "Living Italian" by Maria Valgimigli; Barron's "501 Italian Verbs;" and an Italian dictionary (I use Cassell's). These four books have been the absolute best books that I have found for learning Italian, especially on one's own. And if you're going to Italy, get a copy of Rick Steves' little paperback, "Italian Phrasebook and Dictionary." And, lastly, if you fall in love with Italian, you must read "La Bella Lingua."

Very useful. If it came with an audio CD file it would be more useful and more powerful.

Another great workbook in this series. I'm still in the process of memorizing the 555 verbs in another book. I don't believe in beginning the practice until I've learned something first. However, I browsed through it and did some lessons and it's a good addition to my arsenal of practice books.

The best book to really get a handle on verb tenses. Sure its rote but necessary. Great explanations

Great book, but don't buy Kindle version. Teeny-tiny tables for verb conjugation (hey! THE point of the book!) You can't see them! Seriously--who was the moron who made this into a Kindle? The book itself is great.. The Kindle version is a complete waste.

Very supportive for the course I'm taking (Beginner 2). Lots of opportunity to practice and check the work. I would recommend this workbook for a beginner in Italian.
This is an excellent workbook. I have used it many many times. It is very helpful.
I like the fact that the answers are in the back of the workbook. I would do the work
then check my answers. Great learning tool.
