Needs a revision as book is 20 years old. Last two chapters on Gorbachev and fall of USSR seemed stuffed with repetitive "filler" material to flesh the book into twelve chapters (enough for a 12 week college course)

Last two chapters on Gorbachev and fall of USSR seemed stuffed with repetitive "filler" material to flesh the book into twelve chapters (enough for a 12 week college course). I thought the book was strongest in describing the rule of Stalin and Khrushchev. Good introduction to the USSR.

Enjoyed this book. Needs a revision as book is 20 years old.
