I apologize to anyone that needs this book for a class. I already have my degree in computer information systems, so my review maybe a little biased.

First of all, I understand that it takes a year+ to go from rough draft to final product. The copyright date, for this edition, is 2011. The authors refer to computers with megahertz-speed processors. Please, try to find a megahertz processor at your local computer store.
Second, the hard drive is referred to as the brain of the computer and then two paragraphs later, the processor is also referred to as the brain.
Note to the authors: please have someone with a computer science background review your material for accuracy and timeliness.
Third, the authors draw heavily on other author's work (they give credit), however, they make inaccurate assumptions with the information they reference.
And lastly, while I understand the need to build a foundation-level of knowledge, the authors insist on repeating information discussed in previous paragraphs and chapters. Sometimes this information is stated 3 times in a single paragraph with just single word changes. Read: brevity. You could easily shave 25%-30% off each chapter.

I don't blame the authors; I'm sure they are focused on other areas of their careers. However, the publisher bares some responsibility for the quality of the product they produce - where is the editor?

I always buy my textbooks from Amazon and return them after I'm done with my class, this will save you so much money on books while in school!

Everything was fine until the last chapter and it was missing and I got and extra glossary and no appendices. I'm sure it was a misprint but it didn't help while I'm trying to study for my class.

Purchased this because I have a very hard time with the digital only version. So far I cannot see any differences. Super boring, but can be used for my Coding class on AHIMA. Mine smelled strongly of insect repellant, which made my eyes water, but it eventually aired out. That was a first for me :) The first book waas lost in the mail, but was promptly replaced the same day by the seller for which I am grateful.

I purchased this textbook for class. It is well written and informative, goes into good detail on the subject without becoming boring.
