The aims of this study were to identify these Ceratocystis isolates and to test their pathogenicity to Eucalyptus. Bakshi BK (1951) Studies on four species of Ceratocystis, with a discussion of fungi causing sap-stain in Britain.

The aims of this study were to identify these Ceratocystis isolates and to test their pathogenicity to Eucalyptus. The most aggressive isolates were also used to screen different species and clones of Eucalyptus for susceptibility to infection under field conditions. The fungi were identified based on morphology and through comparisons of DNA sequence data of the ITS, partial β-tubulin and TEF-1α gene regions.

Studies on four species of Ceratocystis, with a discussion on fungi causing sapstain in Britain. New species, Ceratocystis ponderosae, isolated from blue stain of ponderosa pine, and C., isolated from brown stain associated with bark beetle larvae galleries in green ash, are described. Ceratocystis ponderosae is morphologically similar to C. pilifera but differs in growth habit and staining ability. The ostiolar tip and imperfect state of C. separate this species from others.
