In this great little book Ajahn Brahm regales us with 108 (often extremely funny) Buddhist stories. Many will leave you in stitches as he makes great use of humour to get the point across. I am not a Buddhist, but loved this book and the wisdom he expounds.

As a Buddhist of the Theravada way, I highly recommend this book and any other written by Ajahn Brahm

As a Buddhist of the Theravada way, I highly recommend this book and any other written by Ajahn Brahm. He is a master at dispensing Buddhist wisdom in a very easy way of comprehending it. He is the real deal. If you love this book, know that I am your friend offering a different perspective; it is as if I am arguing with Ajahn Brahm on a level-playing field, where he is just a friend I want to mess with for the heck of it :-). Don't get mad at me; instead, think about what I am saying here, and keep your opinions to yourself (unless you are Ajahn Brahm himself). I was a perfectionist, so the first story about the two bad bricks was perfect for me.

Great book, especially if your heart is revolving door! And it's even pretty handy for a roller door kind of heart, as long as you remember the remote control. Ajahn Brahm tells great stories that engender compassion and move you to laugh and cry. Laugh because he's a monk and your not and monk's have to put up with terrible things. And cry because he's a monk and you're not and monk's gain so much wisdom. So laugh and cry. Unless you ARE a monk, in which case, you'll cry and laugh. Either way, it is a book that should open your heart.

Ajahn Brahm was born and raised in the West and in his more than thirty years as a Buddhist monk he has gathered many poignant, funny and profound stories. There are many thousands of Australians who don't even know that they need this book yet, but who will no doubt embrace it just as overseas readers have. It is the perfect gift book as there is truly something in it for everyone

In times of uncertainty, words of comfort are essential, and the stunning overseas sales of this title are testament to its universal appeal.

The author, Ajahn Brahm, was a student of the great Thai teacher Ajahn Chah and he brings to life the essence of Buddhist thought. The stories are easy to relate to, even if you've never spent a day in a monastery. The chapter on Creating Happiness alone is worth the price of this book. As Westerners, it can be difficult to reconcile the realities of day to day living with our overwhelming desires for control and happiness. We strive so hard to change our external world that we fail to recognize that no change is possible without inner change

Good stories and was looking forward to listening to them in on my commute but they are the same as in the "Truckload of Dung book"- don't make the same mistake as me and order both....

I love Ajahn Brahm, but when I listened to this I was surprised to hear that it is read by a guy with a broad Australian accent, who I later found out is an Aussie TV actor. It made listening to the recording an unpleasant experience, so I couldn't even finish it. The publishers could have done a lot better in choosing the reader than this. Save your money and buy the book instead.

Those who know Ajahn Brahm will know that he is a great teacher with a very good sense of humour. I like his teachings a lot because he uses real life stories to let us understand Dammah. He makes Buddha's teaching simple and easy to understand. 'Opening the door of your heart' has a good collection of Ajahn Brahm's teachings. They are all very enlightening!

Opening the Door of Your Heart contains fine and often humoristic examples of how Buddhist principles can be applied in one's daily life. It is easy to understand and an excellent start for those new to Buddhist teachings. However it will equally appeal to those already well versed in this philosophy as it reinforces the principles in a practical context.
First of all, Ajahn Brahm is a great teacher and inspiration in my life. I was so excited to get this book on CD so I could listen to it in my car. However, I don't enjoy the person reading this book on CD. Francis Greenslade reads this book, and I am sorry to say his voice does not go with the material. I have a hard time listening to him read Ajahn Brahm's words. I would recommend reading this book instead of trying to listen to it on this CD.
