I just received the audio version of this book and have listened to the first half. I think this explains so many of the bad behaviors we are seeing in children, mine included. (6yrold) I work at a childcare center and we are constantly trying to manage children that are out of control. The tragedy that is "entitlement" explains most of what we are seeing. I feel if every parent would use love and logic America could be great again. We could see less crime, less use of anti-depressants etc. I have seen many children that are probably destined for meds. that really just need "love and logic" The old way doesn't work anymore! Probably because you can't make your child go out and pick a switch from the willow tree. Empty threats are amusing rather than having the desired effect. End the frustration!!!! Love and Logic works almost instantly. I was ready to take my daughter to a Pshychiatrist, but just changing MY ways has done the trick. I can totally see how my poor, but well meaning. parenting has led to all the behaviors that we, and my child's teachers, are seeing. NO MEDS for my child, just LOVE and LOGIC!!!!!
I will agree that the last half is just rehashing love and logic, but I think this book is the key to all of it. This could be the only book you need! If you already own love and logic, the first half of the book is worth the "recap". It doesn't hurt to review.

If you believe parenting is about protecting, rescuing, or ordering and controlling, this book will not appeal to you. If you are willing to step back and examine what you are doing and the results you are getting AND might be willing to try something different, you will really enjoy this and other Love and Logic books.

This is an interesting book that sketches out how as a culture we have allowed the "disease" of entitlement to creep into much of what people, and especially children, expect to receive. It's filled with some great quotes about taking responsibility for yourself that left me inspired.

The authors also weave application of the Love and Logic philosophy into the solutions to the problem of entitlement. It's fascinating that many of the managers and leaders I work with are also dealing with entitlement (although they don't call it that). Rather than blame the person, Love and Logic sets up a framework to help him or her grow into responsibility. Sound a bit like effective management? Of course the techniques for adult to adult conversation are different, yet the underlying care and support is really exactly the same.

This is such a great book. Even as a non-parent, having read this gave me insights into my own understanding of boundaries and self care. It is a very reasonable book to address even adult interactions and workplace situations. It does take some mental adaption, but I really got a lot of of this book. I have given it to parents as well, with a hope that they are able to assimilate some of the knowledge for parenting.

Love Love and Logic old stuff. New stuff loaded with politics and anti liberal sentiment- though I really don’t think the author is aware of it. I tired of it quickly. Nothing too new in it that first L &L books didn’t cover

I read this book in about three days. I really didn't want to put it down, but it's one of those you almost have to stop and ponder. After I finished it I loaned it to a friend and bought one to send my sister. She asked me "Don't you feel as if he's talking to us mothers too?" And I really do. We all demand respect, but we don't stop and think about why we deserve it.

I ordered this book after it was recommended to me by my daughters doctor. As I was reading it I couldn't help but think "how do they know what goes on in my house?" This book is my life every day. It is teaching me new ways to say NO to my 11 year old daughter and do it without making me feel bad. My husband is also reading it. I will be passing it along to my MOM's group when I am done it is well worth the read.
If you have children who think they need everything and you just can't say NO you must read this book
