I have long enjoyed the work of Jeff Cooper, but this volume is the least-good of his books. It isn't bad exactly, and if you are a big fan of Jeff Cooper you ought to read this one, but this isn't a good place to start. I think the best of his anthologies is "Another Country. That would be the best choice as your first book of Jeff Cooper's wisdom, or perhaps "Fireworks. This volume has some definite highlights though. Bush Booze" and "Europe 1989" were two chapters that offered excellent reading.

The final book written during Cooper's declining years before his death. Good insight into the man's personality and philosophy.

Jeff Cooper was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1920. He was educated at Stanford University and took his advanced degree from the University of California. He was commissioned in the Marine Corps in 1941 and served throughout World War II in the Pacific, achieving the rank of Major. From this activity he formulated the Modern Technique of the Pistol, now generally observed throughout the world. For the next thirty years he was active in teaching the new method throughout the Western World. In 1976 Jeff Cooper founded the International Practical Shooting Confederation.

ANOTHER COUNTRY sees the late Colonel Jeff Cooper, writing-wise, at the top of his game. I've read most of Cooper's other books and numerous articles by him, and while all were very good, this one stands out in terms of both style and content as the most engaging and satisfying read of them all.

Jeff Cooper was a writer's writer in that he wrote with a clear consise , knowledgeable way that did not need to be interputed. Over the years as a police officer, Hunter, Trainer, and shooting enthusiast I have gone to the writings of Jeff for Knowledge of shooting handguns, rifles and the mental attitudes that keep me safe. Every Police Officer, Soldier, and protector of the community owes him a large debt for all he has taught over the years. We may have learned from different people and places, Schools and Agencies but much of the training and knowledge can be traced back to Chairman Jeff. We no longer have Jeff Cooper to teach us in person but we have much of his writing to draw from in the future, SHOTLUCK is one of a number of books by Jeff Cooper that is well written and consisely organized. There is much to be learned from it.

Not only was Jeff Cooper a master of the defensive pistol, but he was also a well-informed, most interesting writer.

This is a series of vignettes by a very accomplished, very conservative student of history and of fighting. Its very conservative bent may be too much for some readers, but it does present a very well-reasoned and seldom-seen view of a part of the world we live in.

I'm a long time fan of Col. Cooper and am working on collecting all of his works. This book doesn't disappoint.

This is a great book worth reading, by a great man who is already missed. A must have for fans of the man.

You may agree with Cooper's opinions or you may not. Either way there's no doubt what they are and they are always entertaining reading.
One of Cooper's best. If you are interested in the writings from the Father of Modern Pistol craft, then this is a must have for your library.
