The Mind's I admirably broadens their fields to a more general audience

The Mind's I admirably broadens their fields to a more general audience. The book's essays are grouped into six categories, each successively raising the philosophical stakes by introducing new levels of complexity

The texts range from early philosophical and fictional musings on a subject that could seemingly only be examined in the realm of thought, to works from the twentieth century where the nature of the self became a viable topic for scientific study.

Arrived lightening fast! Thank You! We heard this book was great, although it was very difficult reading for the two of us! We read at night together & often share books - maybe we just need to try some other chapters/ articles, otherwise, we were both disappointed in the book.

Makes you question everything but doesn't really get you anywhere, but that's the point. A collection of articles from well renown scholars on philosophy, genetics, computer science etc. a tremendous read that opens your mind to consciousness and life. A must if you like thinking about deep ideas. A couple of the articles I ended up skipping halfway through as it was over my head, also getting to be a little dated now. Don't let either of these reasons to prevent you from getting this book.

The selections and personal writings in this compilation will appeal to lovers of the now-gone OMNI magazine. Hofstadter brings to light important ideas of what "consciousness" might be in certain frames of reference.

I bought this book in good condition. It has yellowing pages, water stains, and pages ready to fall out. I would hardly classify that as "good".
