Great service, great book.

Lots of interesting detail that might be useful in future investigations. Still not sure we'll ever know what really happened in any of the 3 cases mentioned in the book until some participant actually confesses...

I just came across this book when I was doing a google search. I cannot recommend this book because the author did not do his research or rather accurate research. My father was one of the CID agents who investigated the Ralph Sigler case. I heard much about the case when it appeared on Unsolved Mysteries... my father was furious they did not talk to him before airing the show. If he had talked to my father he would have learned why Sigler committed suicide and the evidence that led them to that finding. At the time of the airing (which coincided with the release of this book) Dad still had his notes from the case and would have gladly shared them with both. One of the reasons why Dad was so furious when he saw the show and read the book. I could go on and on.. lets just say.. Sigler wasn't the hero the book and many people want to make him out to be.

I give the authors credit for tackling some intriguing true espionage cases, but they did not do them justice. It is no doubt difficult to write a book in which much of the research is still classified, but many of their assessments and conclusions are far fetched, sensationalistic, and not supported by the evidence. For example, nothing they wrote convinced me that Ralph Sigler died by any means other than suicide.

I read this book about 3 years ago and never resold it because I intend to read it again. It was very entertaining and revealing. These are stories (book covers the circumstances/stories of several different spies/missions)you won't see anywhere else. I read this type of book all the time and have yet to find the stories I read in this one. Full of suspense, intrigue, and not-so-typical endings. It was well written and easily understood. I highly recommend this book.

Really liked this book. As a member of a genealogical society this was of interest since one of the main characters had the same surname as this society. Yikes!
