Great read and insight to the 90's and late 80's music scene. Bob was Layne Staley but he climbed out of the abyss and pissed off every possible person on the bottom. Buy it... Best book on that era and scene.

This is an entertaining and interesting read. The stories remind of us headlines from the past - Rick James, Heaven's Gate, just to name a few. Even though the chapters are small, it is well written enough where you comprehend the whole story.

This is a really great collection of his writings. Who knew that you could fall in love again with Rick James? Sager's writings make you feel that you are looking into someone's life. I love this book. The stories are wonderful.

The book is excellent. The kindle edition is riddled with errors. None are major enough to ruin the experience (mostly misspellings or things like "it" instead of "is"), but if you're looking to buy I'd plump for the paperback.

Worth it alone for the Rob Lowe story, oh and the Secret Life of a Beautiful Woman - and don't forget he covers the Wonderland Murder. Page after page of excellent journalism on hilarious, weird, and sometimes tragic events. This guy's a GREAT writer. Bring him on your next plane ride.

Given that this is written by a journalist, who one would assume has friends that are editors; there are an appalling amount of spelling, grammatical and just plain lazy errors. Some are glaringly obvious like Boogie Nights starring Max Walhberg, or Jesephine Baker and others where wrong words are used i.e. buy instead of but. I am usually pretty good at ignoring things like this, but given the amount I found it really distracting.
This book seemed to be hastily written and full of patched together, recycled stories and grotesque spelling and grammar errors. I felt that many of the "facts" weren't true; I am a voracious reader, especially of all things "Scary and Freaky" and many of the stories seemed to be recycled, poorly written and I don't think much fact-checking was done (as is all too common in this unfortunate "Internet Era" in which we now live). I did not enjoy reading this book and could not finish it (a rarity for me); as a matter of fact, I believe I threw it in the Recycle Bin in disgust.
