Retold by. Verra xenophontovna kalamatiano de blumenthal. Core Collection Books, inc. Great neck, new york.

This book contained folk tales from Russia and some of them resembled folk tales that are familar to the United States. I do prefer the Russian fairy tales to the Grim stories; the former has more adventures and many a piece of local culture, and aren't as predictable. The good guy sometimes turns pretty cruel right when you don't expect it. But i am not as fascinated with these stories as I was when i were a kid.

All of the characters of the Russian folk tale are here: tsars, enchanted frogs, witches, foolish sons, and more. The illustrations do not work very well in the Kindle. Stories start with illuminated first letters, which generally don't make it onto the same page as the rest of the word.
