It seems to me that in terms of economic, political, artistic, environmental, and cultural significance the Navajo Nation is a major force in the American Southwest. This book is an excellent introduction to the history, the present, and the future of the Navajo. It isn't the only book or article I would read if I wanted a full and rounded view, but this is certainly an excellent place to start.

This book has poor black and white images but, the reason for this book is for the powerful information that is described to the reader. The detail of the many aspects of the culture is what makes this book good. The book is able to inform the reader and allows for one to become more aware of traditional values and beliefs of the indigenous people in America. Any race on American soil would be better off if they would take a few history lessons from this book. America needs to teach more of the indigenous culture and teachings since this is the Native American's homeland.

Really liked it and learned much more about the Diné than before however, I do believe Locke has something (almost personal) against Kit Carson, at least his biographers, that is more than biography deep. That kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

This the sad but true history of the Navajo of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah. It gives a look into the way the Navajo think and act. I enjoyed it because I have friends who are Navajo and this helps me understand them.

A wonderful look into the history of the Nabajo. It is a tragic history of political eneptness and corruption.
