Des weiteren erkannten auch weitere deutsche Monarchen die Reichsverfassung nicht an. Daraufhin kam es in weiten Teilen zur Entladung der Enttäuschung der Bevölkerung. Jedoch wurden sie schon nach kurzer Zeit durch die Konterrevolutionären und vor allem durch das preußische Militär blutig niedergeschlagen. Im Verlaufe der Geschichte wurden die Kämpfer der Revolution je nach politischer Zielrichtung als Revoluzzer, Gewalttäter oder Helden verächtet beziehungsweise gefeiert.
