The book wasn't what I was looking for, and I had to get rid of it. That was a waste if money. First time this has happened to me, so it's not the worst thing in the world. But I wish I had been able to look closer before buying it.

This series is a Bible Study that does exactly what the title suggests; it begins at the beginning and goes through the entire Bible. We have a small group at my church that wanted an in-depth study to understand the scriptures that inform our faith.

It is really lengthy -- some books of the Bible take 13 weeks to study. The format organizes around three sections, What does the Bible say, What did the Bible mean in the context of the culture it was written, and what does it mean for us in our own culture. It opens up deep conversations on these subjects. We sometimes wholeheartedly agree with the author and sometimes strongly disagree, but it is wonderful to hear the differing opinions and to grow in our faith and understanding.

I recommend this book to a group that is committed to a long study over several years.
