Please note that this book is about teaching. The intention of the author is not to give information on either Wicca or Paganism but to give Wiccans and Pagans TEACHING information. Miss Sabin has a Master's degree in Education. She states on her website that she wants to help Pagans have a better start than she did when she first began to teach while in college. She states in the book that the examples involve Wicca because that is what she knows best. If anyone is interested in teaching Wicca or Paganism, they should already have sufficient knowledge about the subject matter to do so. I have 30 years experience teaching everyone from preschoolers to adults and teaching subjects from complex technical IT classes to music. I already know enough about Wicca to teach classes. I have to teach a public class on Wicca as a prerequisite for my third degree. I wanted information on TEACHING and I got everything I wanted and a whole lot more. I was also greatly impressed that the author included copious direct quotes (she obviously spoke to these people directly) from various people in the field including but certainly not limited to: Holli Elmore, founder of the Pagan Round Table in SC and a teacher of Neopagan religions; Ella Evert Hopman, herbalist and Druid; Christopher Penczak, well-known Wiccan author (great books!); and Oberon Zell-Ravenheart, a renowned Pagan elder and founder of the Church of All Worlds. If you removed all references to Wicca and Paganism this would still be a great teaching manual. But her Resources section is a terrific list of websites, books, software, etc., etc. on an incredible array of information about teaching, learning, dealing with people, Pagan organizations, Wiccan organizations, ethics, group dynamics just to name a few. There are a LOT of books with wonderful information on Wicca and Paganism but not very many (if any) with this amount of detail about teaching directed at those who have the knowledge of their subject but not the practical experience of actually teaching others.

Although there a lot of books out there teaching the various traditions within Wicca and Paganism, there aren't very many focused on teaching Pagans how to teach others. Thea Sabin's latest book quenches a great need for leadership training within the Pagan community.

This book covers everything from dealing with difficult students to developing detailed lesson plans at a variety of student levels. Readers with teaching experience will smile while reading Sabin's example stories, discovering that there are certain things that happen to many Pagan teachers across the board. The final chapter on going from teacher to clergy is highly valuable and something anyone considering such a role should check out.

I enjoyed this book and thought it to have very helpful advice for those who are looking to teach in the future. I appreciated the breakdown of each example within the chapter. It was good advice that even teachers not on the pagan path could appreciate, and as a student, it definitely gives me a new outlook on my teacher and how much effort she puts into everything.

I love the edition purchased. It was in excellent condition.

Great for first time teachers, and those who wish to improve their lesson planning and time management skills.
The seasoned instructor will not find anything new or dynamic here, but the target audience (new Pagan Teachers) will find much of worth within these pages. Blessed Be!

When my Kapalika Aghora Apprentices get to the point that they can begin teaching others then this is the main book that I recommend to them at this time. And, I now use it myself even though I have been teaching such things for well over 30 years of my life.

Really great book covering all the basics and great tips on how to form a class. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to be a teacher in their community or who simply would like to be able to take on a student here or there whether it's in a formal setting or because someone new to paganism doesn't really have anyone else to turn to. Very well-written.
Very nice book. It reminds me of a course that I took at the university to obtain my teaching degree.
