This is one one my favorite UFO cult classics, and it is much more intelligent than most in this rarified if eccentric category. I haven't the slightest idea whether this is fiction or non-fiction, but the story is so convincingly presented with the mostly amateurish looking photographs and careful geographical detail that I was taken in as if by a "found" document and couldn't put it down. It has the flavor of something too innocent and rough to be made up, but that may just be a clever deception. If this book isn't true, it should be. I want very much for it to be true. What a lovely society are the Itibi-Raians who cruise Amazonia for exotic fruits to cultivate in their greenhouses for the purpose of yielding up the fruit juices that are the mainstay of their diet.
This would make a fabulous movie in the right hands.

I really like this book. It is presented as non-fiction, but I have no idea if it is or is not. But I love the story. I first read this book from a copy in the Seattle Public Library. When I decided I wanted to reread it, I tried to reserve a copy from the library again. But all of their copies were checked out and over time, one by one, they were just never returned. I eventually stumbled across a used copy online. I purchased the copy and added it to my personal library. The story is convincingly told and holds your attention. I just like reading this book even if the story is not true.

The scope of the story, going from India to Peru, gives the story a grand scale worthy of being made into a movie. I hope someday someone does make a movie from this story. It is the type of story that could be made on a fairly small budget. I imagine since the original author cannot be found, that it might get hung up in copyright issues.

Something in hopes that the story is true.

A most curious book indeed. It was the subject of an appendix to The undiscovered country: Adventures into other dimensions, which is where I first heard of it. Timothy Good also wrote about Pallmann's reported adventures in Alien Base: The Evidence for Extraterrestiral Colonization of Earth.

The 1986 edition has some interesting extra material by Wendelle Stevens. However, Pallmann's book is unlikely to find much of a wider audience as this edition was limited to just 1000 copies.

Pallmann was an international sales rep for machinery to pulverize grain and he says he travelled widely and spoke several languages. While in India he encountered a mysterious man on a train who had the "light brown skin of a Eurasian, huge dark eyes, a rather small mouth and an unusual chin line. The lower part of the jaw looked slightly deformed. ... Above all, there was this peculiarity of speech, this complete reliance upon an electronic gadget to reproduce his voice." The two started chatting and later met up again in India, and later, when Pallmann was selling machinery to fine-grind the yucca root, in Peru.

Eventually, the mystery man takes Pallmann on a train ride to Huancayo, then they travel to a lake where a UFO glides to the edge and Pallmann takes a trip to a plantation where Amazon plants are being harvested and hybridized. He learns about the "cosmophilosophy" of the human-like aliens, which is of a pacifist, vegetarian, socialist nature. He is informed that man's highest duty is to protect women and children from violence. There is also a trip to a "lost city", Linislan, somewhere north-east of Cuzco.

The author vanished and the publisher went out of business soon after the book's release, adding to the mystery.
