Likeable characters, those three girls - but the author 'fattened' the book with so many references to famous people that it really got old. If the three girls hadn't been likeable, I'd have quit reading.

Okay book, but rather plodding and predictable.

This is one of the First romance books I every read. The women, their friendship, their love lives... the complex characters are all compelling. Great story, sex is minimal and tasteful. I have read hundreds of romance books since this book yet this book is the only one I can recall by name on a whim.If you haven't read a Jennifer Wilde book yet, start! btw, the author is a he NOT a she. Jennifer Wilde is a pen name for T.E.huff who past away in 1990. Imagine my surprise when I learned the author of a book on my keeper shelf was male!

I have been an avid Jennifer Wilde fan and have read all her (his) books....especially loved and re-read several times: Loves Tender Fury, When Love Commands, Miranda, Angel in Scarlet....was so disappointed in The Slipper - even though the author again skillfully intertwined the notable characters of that time period with the 3 "heroines" of the story, I found that I did not like any of them and the profane language used repeatedly was in direct contrast to Wilde's previous books.

It was alright. I read a part of it for free off a ebook service offered on a plane and borrowed it from the library to finish it off. It wasn't boring but not terribly interesting either. It wasn't hard to keep up with the book; each chapter alternated between 3 friends story through college and after; but at the same time it just didn't captivate me enough.

This book was just so so. I just could not follow the story. We follow the women as they go through college and embark upon their futures. Each of them have challenges and how they choose to meet them and overcome them made a great story. The theme running through the book was each of them obtaining the ‘glass slipper’ just like Cinderella. They gain their slipper but it’s not quite what they imagined it would be. I was given this book to read for an honest review by NetGalley

A great story of 3 young women trying to make their way thru college and put their mark on the world.
Early on after meeting in college, these three well - written characters make a pact to climb to the top, in search of "the slipper", like Cinderella.
A thought-provoking look at the costs of fame and fortune, and risking it all, in search of "making it".
