As with all the Susan Stephens books I've read, this book actually started out well (hence the one star. I was deluded into thinking it would be a good read). The heroine (Savannah) is a singer who the hero (Ethan) engages to sing the national anthem, but while she is singing, her too tight, borrowed dress pops open and exposes her breasts to the public and Ethan rescues her from the ensuing fallout (no pun intended). For a similar plot but far better romance, please read instead Beauty and the Beast or The Hunchback of Notre Dame; both were more realistic and more enjoyable than this author's version.

From this Author, I keep reading the same story over and other again. It's like she's phoning it in. The first story I read of her's was wonderful, so I made it a purpose to go and get titles written by her. Since I am a hopeless romantic, I shall probably read more of her work. Why do they use phrases like "had been" when they could just say "was?"

I thought it was a good book come on ppl your gonna make one kinky sex scene make you not enjoy the book they only did it once, and it was a little spanking that they both concent to and even if everyone is not into it it still leaves that its a good book...
Don't degrade the book because of that scene state that you enjoy it if you did but make it known that you didn't like that scene about the book...

its like i always say a bad reivew can really downplay a good book and a good review can really up play a bad book, because of some of the bad reviews for this book I almost didn't read it but i'm glad i change my mind

i'm glad i bought it because if i had listen to most of the reveiws and not bought it i would have missed out on a good book...

It is always interesting to read a book that has been reviewed passionately, even when those reviews are negative. Having read and enjoyed other Susan Stephens books I was surprised and curious at the reactions to Tino and Lisa's story.

Having now read the book, I am not entirely surprised at some of the criticisms. The sex scenes are definitely unusual in this genre. The fact that this book pre-dates the 50 Shades phenomena makes it all the more interesting. The love play does have some slight overtones of erotica but so mild in comparison that they would hardly raise a blip on the current radar.

What I found interesting was the fact that those scenes were love-play with lots of fun and humour between the protagonists. Considering the dark pasts of both hero and heroine, that is actually very significant and I found it very moving.

This is a story about two very wounded people who believe they will never find love and happiness and safety with a significant other. I loved watching them interact with all the bravado and masks that were no match for love when it found them.

At times the writing was a little uneven, mostly with POV changes, but on the whole I found it a very satisfying and emotional read. The Virgin in the title was a most unusual virgin to my notions but it worked in the context of the story.

Virgin for Sale is a romance novel by Susan Stephens in the Uncut series. After a narrow escape from a commune during her adolescence, Lisa Bond becomes the CEO of her father's Steel empire. But when things start to go pear-shaped, she needs Greek magnate Constantine Zagorakis to buy a subsidiary holding to help her out of a financial crisis. But Tino has other plans, and returns to his Greek Island. And Lisa follows, intent on sealing the deal to save her company. This romance has cardboard characters, a paper-thin plot, uninspiring dialogue and, while touted as "Uncut" the sex scenes are rather ho-hum. Not worth the effort.

From reading these scandalized reviews of the spanking scene in this book, I was curious and had to read this one, even though I've never read this particular author. I had to smile as I read what some of these reviewers consider "bondage" and "soft porn."

This was so playful it couldn't be considered either of those, although I'm not into the S&M scene. Tame, very tame. No whips, no belts: just his hand and playful language about her being "a naughty girl." Whoopie! It was kinda cute, actually.

I also find it odd that some reviewers believe the two protagonists could not possibly indulge in this kind of behavior since they had both been abused as children. The woman saw or heard about "free love" in a commune, the hero was supposedly whipped as a child. Neither situation should be swept under the carpet, yet as adults this might possibly be a way those who were helpless as children could take control. That's what I've heard such bedroom games are about anyway. Since Lisa was this hard-boiled business owner, her playing the submissive to Tino's dominant would allow her to give up control to a strong man that she trusts.

I don't see anything abusive or sick in that. In fact, if you want to go into the psychological ramifications, I believe such games might even be healthy and empowering for a couple with their history.

Not a great book, but not bad. And certainly not a violation of the pristine reputation of the Harlequin Presents line.

One reviewer went as far as to say that the spanking is "healthy" in a relationship.

Excuse me? Pain is "healthy" for two people who had a horrific past? Um, no.

This was a terrible story with an awfully sadistic point of view. Some people really don't understand how bad bringing that particular thing into play in the bed. For passionate- yet tender-hearted readers, which is what we all are since we're reading Harlequin and not authors like Rachel Kramer Bussel, it's not fun. It's not sexy. It's not "healthy."

The spanking ruined an entire book. It's extremely unrealistic for people who had traumatic pasts to like this. And I hate that there are some authors who really don't understand that. I've read many books where this has happened, and I wonder, why do these writers think that someone who was abused, or came from a tragic and hurtful past, would actually like a spanking? That's what caused the pain and trauma in the first place!

Skip this book. It's just ridiculous, and absolutely unreal.
