I've been reading my way through Carola Dunn's Regency Romances. They're all fun to read and this was no exception. I finished this book within a few hours. It is about two couples heading to Gretna and cross paths quite frequently during the trip. Along with the questions of budding romance you get the bits and pieces of what it was like to live in those times. Eager to read other books from this author.

It rolled past green meadows dotted with huge oaks and chestnuts, where black-and-white cows and recently shorn, naked-looking sheep grazed companionably. Greta Bridge is our next stop, you said, Kilmore?. He had been subdued since they caught up with him at the Bridge House, speaking little as he patiently helped Henrietta to her tea, which fortunately included macaroons. When he and Henrietta took Lily out to the river-bank, he politely refused Penny’s and Angus’s assistance.

I thought this sounded like a cute premise and I have really enjoyed some of Carola Dunn's other books so I tried it out. I had not read the first in the series and so that might have changed how I saw this book. Anyway not a bad plot, you know where it is going although you are not quite sure how it will get there. There was one thing I didn't like in the book and if you have read my reviews you would know that I like books without the junk (i.e. explicit sex)- while I could say this fell into the "no junk" category if you like them squeaky clean this one part might bother you. If you don't want a spoiler stop reading this now: at one inn the rooms get switched around a bit and the main male character goes into the bedroom being shared by his future wife and the main girl, she thinks she is dreaming him so she doesn't cover up and he is a little tipsy and walks over to the bed and strokes her breast. He realizes what is happening, that his fiancee is right there and leaves. She continues to think it is a dream until he lets it slip that it was real. Like I try to say- I wish reviews would just flat out say if the books have any sex in them so I am trying to do the same for anyone investigating this book. I will admit I did end up buying the next book in the series "Thea's Marquis," because I do like some of C. Dunn's other books and you can read that review if you would like.
I love Mercedes
Very nice product & story!

I finished A Lord for Miss Larkin and quickly bought this one. This was just fun. Two hostesses turn away with their prospective grooms. Of course they are mismatched. When one carriage breaks down, the two couples decide to ride together in one coach. A charming story.

Not only do you get the usual terrific Dunn story but you get an entertaining history lesson along the Great North Road. Fun read. Enjoy.

Maybe not one of her better ones, as the romance seems a bit slow. But, still Dunn is a good safe name to look for with the genre.
