She did not want to be the cause of his dismay. You met her before in London, did you not? his grandmother continued. But Louisa’s attention was centered on Lord Wade, and she saw just a moment of embarrassed anger before his expression changed into the mask of pleasantry one would grant a stranger in a crowded ballroom. Did he wear that mask all the time, even around his family? Ah, I thought I smelled a different perfume, Lord Wade said smoothly.

The Viscount in Her Bedroom takes place in 1845.

I applaud the writer for a realistic depiction of a man's ( hero) anger in adjusting to blindness. The hero is too blunt in his interactions with others. He self-isolates ie eats all his meals away from family, seldom leaves his home. He fears making mistakes, such as spilling food when eating. All realisitc.

Had mixed feelings RE heroine. She opens up the hero by encouraging his expression of pent-up emotions & helping him gain some measure of independence. But she is preoccupied with her (unjustified) rep as a woman of "easy virtue." The writer hammers home this theme, about heroine's reputation, over a dozen times!! Can't book heroines have healthy self-esteem?

Where was the spark? Enjoy the warm, fuzzy, tingly, weak-in-the-knees feeling hero & heroine get just by being in the same room? Enjoy just talking to each other or 'matching wits?' Writer did not get this across.

The sex scenes seemed obligatory, & took place 3/4 into the book. The pacing & writing were both good, but the story got bogged down at times w/ aforementaioned negative elements. ( Edited for clarity)

Louisa Shelby once lived a carefree life going to balls and wearing beautiful clothing. When her father died and left her family penniless she had to find a way to support herself. When she is offered a job as a companion to an elderly Viscountess, Louisa gladly accepts. She does not count on the temptation that she finds at her new post.

Simon Wade was once the most eligible bachelor, but a riding accident left him blind and now he spends his time in his grandmother's home. When Louisa starts showing an interest in him he spurns the attention figuring it is just pity. Is the beautiful ex-socialite really interested in helping or is the gossip about her true? How can Simon keep her reputation from staining his frumpy younger sister?

The Viscount in Her Bedroom is a delightful read. I love a pouty Hero that needs to get over himself, and he does get over it with a healthy kick upside the head by the lovely heroine. Louisa is a good all around character that can come up with a well thought out solution to life's problems without feeling contrived or impulsive. I definitely recommend this book to those that like to see the Heroine rescue the Hero now and then.

I love heroes who have some kind of physical problem, not just the mental that they are men. I loved the heroine who is a charming open person, too nice to realize that some people are taking advantage of it. And I like her fighting spirit. I already ordered other books from Ms Callen, definitely an author who will stay on my wish list!

The third book was not my favorite in tne triology, but it held its own and was great as a solo title.
The main characters start off on two different sides without both of them knowing it.
The story grew on me as I got to know what drove each character. The Grandmother was quitelikeable and you knew she had many schemes up her sleve just waiting for the righ t moment to expose them.
The sister was a giel who just needed someone to believe in her, not a family memeber.
The motheer had a small part, but one that made a mark on both brother and sister.
The heroine just wanted to find a purpose in her life and to quit feeling like she failed her dad.
The hero just needed to remeber to live, not just exist.

Admittedly I like this author, but thus far I think this is one of her best books and best series. I’m sad it’s the last of the series, but looking forward to more of her novels. We met Simon in previous novels so we can understand the sudden change from the life he had before and the one he has after his accident. It makes the characters more appreciable and adds to their depth.

Although I did like the plot/ storyline the actual writing style bothered me. I found it simplistic and choppy. The other 2 willow pond stories were the same but more so with this book. I give the other 2 in the series 4s. This was like a good draft that wants finishing... not on the plot but the actual writing style that needs to flow better.

Enjoyed all the characters. The plot was well written and the characters well rounded. Will most likely read this again in the future.
What a great book. One of the best I have read in a long time. An interesting twist on a love story that will definitely hold your interest.
