I didn't really like the big historical section in the middle. By the time I was though it, I forgot some of the other characters names in the main line and there were a lot of characters!

The premise of the story is an interesting one and is worked well throughout the book. The flow between the "Parts" I thought was cumbersome/perplexing. Oh well it is definitely worth the read if you like mystery based in science.

You can read other reviews about the story itself, but as for the ebook itself, the formatting is terrible. In order to read it I had to bump it up to the largest font possible on my Kindle 3 (it was completely unreadable on the Paperwhite). The publisher should be embarrassed.

An intelligent writer with a superb knowledge of history makes convincing and insightful suggestions about the ancient human past that history cannot tell us and creatively weaves it into masterful plot that that is intertwined with current times. An eloquent writer, superb character development, and a wonderfully philosophical mind. There is entertaining excitement and adventure, that holds the reader's mind,...can't wait to finish it.

Good Read. This was a very interesting story and I would recommend it. It reads very good as a e-book.

I am a sci-fi fan, a mystery buff and subscribe to Archaeology magazine. I thought this book would be right up my alley. Wrong. This isn't science fiction...it's fantasy. The plot is absurd,... the characters shallow, the reasoning flawed and whole premise is idiotic. Other than all of that...I have nothing against Mr. Levinson. I'm sure he is a nice man but after reading Steve Stirling's amazing Sea of Time trilogy.....nothing seems to measure up. I have rarely tossed a book. This one is in the garbage. I could not finish it. Some people seemed to like it. I don't understand why.

Just finished this book, and I want to say it was impressive. Can't wait to read the next one and see what other novels the author has written. A must read for anyone that also likes Kim Stanley Robinson.
