I was worried about the Foccus test so I purchased quite a few pre-marital questions books.
We felt good going into the Foccus test (the catholic premarital inventory test). Our Priest told us that he would slip our answers into separate envelopes for us to take home and discuss with each other. I very much appreciated the privacy and trust he was affording us.
Based on this information, My fiancé and I agreed that answering in a way that would spark conversation, rather than trying to win over the blessing of Fr. S would be best for our future marriage.
Fr. Schuster was very clear to Paul and I that our Foccus test answers were to be kept confidential unless we decided to bring up certain issues. I really don't want Paul or I to feel the need to play defense, rather than talk about important issues. I really like Fr. Schuster and I hope this is a misunderstanding. Being able to trust my priest is of the utmost importance.

I think every couple should go threw this book together. You'll find out A LOT about your partner, even things you might not want to know. Be careful, dont ask questions if you might not like the answer, it may start a small argument, other than that, Love it.

I bought this book in preparing for a more serious relationship. I would not recommend this book for those looking for a compatability test or questions that address the more serious aspects of a marriage.

Not a bad little book ... it even asked some questions we hadn't thought to discuss. But on the whole, this book is rather shallow and only really touches on things in a superficial way. An excellent start, but if it goes well another more serious book would be a good followup.

I ordered this book and got some weird novel with a badger pictured on the front of it instead. I immediately emailed the company that sent it through amazon and after several weeks they finally responded saying they don't know how it happened and found no trace of the premarital counseling book I truly ordered. They said they'd credit my money back but I don't see any credits this month on my credit card statement so that has yet to happen. Hope my marriage doesn't fail as much as this company did since I never got my premarital counseling book!!!!

This is the most useless collection of questions in any book I've read intended for engaged or dating couples. The questions are very surface level, very superficial, and an entire waste of time. Who cares which snack food you like or what color carpet you want for your future home? This will not help you decide if the two of you are compatible. These preferences can change over time. This is all in addition to the fact that these questions are written from the perspective of a female, in feminine language, that is flowery and old-fashioned. I can't imagine your average male enjoying this book at all. I expected to find at least one good chapter in this book, but did not. I much prefer "Don't You Dare Get Married Until You Read This!" and "the hard questions: 100 Essential Questions to Ask Before you Say 'I Do.'"

I didn't buy this book for marriage purposes! I just met someone and he lives 1000 miles away. It gave us a good way to start learning about each other. The topics and questions cover just about everything from the basic 3 - religion, sex and politics, to the everyday stuff like, "are the pets allowed to sleep on the bed?" And while the questions are presented in a breezy and fun manner, it still gets you talking and can lead to deeper discussion. If you are to the point of actually considering marriage, I would hope you already know all this stuff about each other!
I was hoping for something a bit deeper and with more substance. If you are just dating and stuff then this might be ok but if you are wanting to really find out if you are compatible, you have to ask a lot more really probing questions.

I found 1000 Questions for Couples to be better book for us.
