One of the funniest books I've read about relationships. I read it years ago and still often think about some of the witticisms in it.

I bought the kindle version of this "book" last night. I read the entire thing in less than 1/2 hour.....it was more the size of a pamphlet than a book.
Then, at the end it is revealed that the author is NOT Anita Liberty, but a married woman with a child. I felt ripped off from start to finish. I do feel somewhat healed by posting how much and why I hate this so-called book.

This is one of my favorite break-up books of all time. A friend of mine bought it for me after one of my (many) break-ups. Actually, I got dumped. Just like Anita Liberty did in this book. The book made me smile and even laugh. It's creatively put together and lets you know that you're not the only one out there feeling down in the dumps because someone didn't think you were good enough for them. I felt better...by hating.

This book is indescribable. Or maybe I could compare it to being slapped around by some no-neck guys from Flatbush as Lenny Bruce blasts classic comedy routines into your brain and nasty little munchkins swarm over your body and tickle you with feather dusters while you scream and scream and scream with agonized laughter. No, that's not it; this book is just indescribable. But really indescribly great. Especially "Letter from Bert" and "A Very Cute Piglet." Ms. Liberty is a very funny poet; bitter, but with a smart take on life that takes some of the sting out of her slashing verses. Even a guy like me can appreciate them. I may be in love. Buy this book. Trust me, you won't be sorry.

I recently ordered a whole bunch of books from Amazon, which were great: Woody Allen, Bridget Jones' Diary, other fantasticly funny stuff. I ordered this book because of all the (mostly positive) reviews posted here (I've never seen so many) but what a disappointment when it arrived. Suzanne Weber (aka Anita Liberty, but really, why bother with a fake name?) has an enormous chip on her shoulder. She'd be funny if she were joking but this book spews real life venom like a New York fire hydrant. It lacks substance, it lacks true wit, it lacks feminine insight. Whatever happened to writers like Dorothy Parker who could scrawl vengeance with unimaginable brilliance? Maybe I'll order her books next.

I was bitter. I was jaded. I was newly-dumped and looking for laughs. I found this gem on the shelf, calling to me like a beacon. Not only did I laugh harder at a book than I ever thought possible, I found inspiration to boot. Real hurt and pain can be cathartic when expressed in such a skillful way, and work out your abs in the best manner to boot. I have given copies of this book as a gift more than any other. Enjoy it and be grateful that such a clever, sharp-tongued voice exists. I know I am.

Consider this glaring double standard when it comes to relationships in this society: When a man ends a relationship, he is "afraid of commitment". When a woman ends a relationship, she is "independent". Ms. Liberty feels the need to ignore this fact.
Furthermore, if a man wrote a book like this, it would be considered a hate crime. When a woman does it, it's considered "clever, social commentary".
It was near 6 years ago when I found this book sitting on the shelf of a local bookstore, right there in literal black and white (at the time the cover was black and white). My boyfriend and I broke up just a few weeks prior and I was stricken. I saw this and bought it, and read through it in a couple hours. It helped, a lot. I found it in some boxes during a move a month ago and re-read it. Gave it to my sister and my best friend to read and they loved it too. Anyone, men or women, can relate, and the sarcasm makes me jealous. I wish I had a wit as quick as hers.
