BOND
There are way to many errors in this book for it be considered a good stand-alone study guide.
When I read other's reviews I thought they were just being petty but there are some serious issues that can actually cause you to stumble on the test. Beside the issues already listed by others a couple of the more glaring errors are:

1. In a table they tell you MEMORIZE for the math section they have: 1/4 = 0.333, 1/2 = 0.333, and 1/3 = 0.333. Really?! 1/4 equals the exact same thing as 1/2 and 1/3.

2. They flip back and fourth on whether a 0 is considered to be a positive or negative number or neither. At least twice they state that 0 is NEITHER a negative or positive number. Then two other times they state that can be BOTH a positive and negative number. Then they actually show math questions that the answer would change on depending on the real state of 0. I had to actually go look on the Internet to figure out what was actually true (it is neither).

3. For the verbal section, the Conclusion of a statement was "In video and movies, images can be manipulated". The question for the quiz was What can be inferred from the passage. One of the answer choices was that "image manipulation can be used for video and movies". The guide said this was not the right answer because the reader was reading to much into the passage (from the guide: this statement goes to far to be the correct answer).

A few other issues I have is the make most of their questions too easy. A lot of it is done for simplicity to drive home a point, but for almost all of the example questions the answer is so obvious that you don't need their tricks or techniques to figure out the answer.

On the plus side their tips and tricks are great (i.e. Plug in the answer, Process of Elimination, etc).

If you are going to just read one book, don't let this be it.
If you are going to read a couple and want some good tricks this is a good additional resource, just don't trust them for the math review (just use their tricks)

This book is 694 pages, but the practice problems do not start till page 527. That means you only get 167 pages of practice and 527 pages of nothingness. What's covered in the first 527 pages? FLUFF... REAL basic math and english explanations or acronyms of pointlessness ("PITA" = plug in the answer). Great, now if I'm stuck on a problem I have to first think of the acronym before I can actually plug in the answer. Make sure you eat before the test because you might crave some PITA bread too...

I bought this book to prepare for the GMAT. I read through the book thoroughly and spent much time working through the problems to prepare. The book did have good information and sound advice but the problem is that the techniques taught in the book for going through the questions does not help much when the official GMAT questions are so varied and different from anything the reader will find in the book. For this reason I give it some stars but I dont believe that it was much help to the goal of doing well on the GMAT.

Buy this 3-5 months in advance of taking the GMAT, and it'll guide you through the entire process. It helped me to raise my original test score by nearly 100 points, and the full-length practice tests (included for free) could not have played a greater role in preparing my for the experience of taking a long, difficult test!

This book does a really nice job in explaining different concepts/techniques on how to solve the types of problems/questions on the GMAT. I understand that there are several errors in the book which might hinder its validity, but regardless you can learn a lot from the ideas presented in it. I increased my score 100 points using this book as a study guide! Granite my first score wasn't great because I barely studied, but this book really enabled me to get over the hump. I only had a month to study, so I ordered this book and tried to memorize and study the different techniques described in it. It definitely helped, as I was able to take what I learned and use it on test day. Overall, I was quite pleased with this book despite its errors, and would recommend it to those wanting to try different techniques or new ways to study.

I found a few errors that were noticeable, even when I was a little unsure of the question. The "Fred and Sam age difference" question threw me off, and I knew it had to be wrong. Overall, I think it is good as a test prepping tool, but I feel that the Princeton Review rushed into this one.

I really wanted to like this book, but I just kept finding too many errors to be able to recommend using it.

What I liked about the book: the conversational tone that the author uses, the tips for how to tackle different kinds of questions, the access to online resources that come along with it.

What I didn't like: WAY TOO MANY ERRORS - and I'm not talking typos. I am talking errors in practice questions/tests, errors in answers and explanations, errors in graphs/charts that prevent you from finding the correct answer to a problem. Errors everywhere.

All in all, spend your money on a different GMAT prep book. I ended up using online software instead because I knew it had a better chance of being error-free.
This book is unfortunately, absolute garbage. Mistakes are sprinkled throughout the text. I came across portions as I hurriedly studied for my GMAT that seemed off, but I was too stressed to pay much attention. It was only after I took my test that I took a closer look at some of the other reviews, and began to actually locate mistakes both in explanations and practice problems. It's unfortunate that Princeton Review would keep such a horrible and flawed source on the market. Very disappointing.
