The Series 7 and Series 66 exams, in my opinion and that of many others, are the most difficult of the core Securities examinations to pass. For me at least, the Series 66 was more difficult to pass than the Series 7. I passed the 7 on the first try, but it took me three attempts to pass the Series 66. Just knowing where to start is a formidable challenge.

ROBERT'S BOOK IS A GOOD PLACE TO START. The body of knowledge required to pass the Series 7 is extensive. His book is a BUSINESS PLAN to address the main objective - TO PASS THE EXAM. I spent week's learning about OPTIONS and got nowhere until a colleague of mine suggested one of his books. After purchasing Robert's book PASS THE 7 I subsequently learned that, in addition to the Series 7 book, Mr. Walker offers comprehensive self-study programs and books on not only the Series 7 but also for the Series 6, 63, 65 and 66 examinations.

Regarding the Series 7 and other materials he offers, Mr. Walker is well known for is simple, sometimes humorous and often entertaining, straight forward manner in presenting study material on what is, let's face it, a very tedious and technical subject matter to learn.

For me the book on the Series 7 was enough to pass the exam on the first attempt with a good score of 86. For the 66, however, that was a different story; it took me 3 times to pass! In my opinion, it's the "Twisted Sister" of Securities examinations. The Series 66 exam is mostly about Uniform Combined State Securities Law but can expect you to know the answers to questions commonly found on the Series 6, Series 63, Series 65 and Series 7 examinations. I needed more than just Robert's book on the Series 7 to pass the Series 66 exam and took advantage of some of the additional study aids his company Pass The Test, Inc. offers. Some are free and others are available for a reasonable cost.

If you need or prefer more than his books, he offers private tutoring at affordable hourly rates and self-study DVD based exam questions with answers for a reasonable cost. Also, for the present at least, he presents a weekly "Friday Free" webinar broadcast covering 10-15 potential exam questions and advice on test taking skills lasting 30-45 minutes at no cost. For me, the Series 7 book, his blogs, Facebook page, and webinars did the trick. If you need additional help, (some do and some don't), the following is from his about page on one of his many web sites:

"Pass the Test, Inc. is a Chicago-based company who produces books, practice exams, and audio CD's for the Series 6, 7, 63, 65, and 66. If you're studying for the Series 6, 7, 63, and 65, please visit the following websites: [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] Pass the Test writes books and delivers lectures in Plain English. Our practice questions are extremely challenging and designed to mimic the actual exam as closely as possible. Our full package provides a level of depth and ease-of-use you won't find anywhere else."

For my part, I value the Pass The Series 7 book as a future reference resource and have chosen not to re-sell it here or anywhere else. GET THE BOOK! You won't regret it!

I scored an 88 on the first attempt using this book and "Series 7 for Dummies" - the two most popular Series 7 books on Amazon. I have a month of work experience out of college and self-studied for 2 weeks.

Pass the 7 should have all the info that you need for the test. If you only want to use one book, this is a good choice, though I would recommend supplementing it with practice exams.

The language is laid back and easy to read. The author puts in humor and casual talk to lighten the mood. I found this to be annoying, as it served to make the book much longer than it needs to be. Just ignore the jokes and write down the details.

Wow, what a great book. I had always heard how dry all the industry standard books were so I bought this one. It is a good value. I have a financial background and was able to read this entire book pretty fast. It is an easy read and borderline enjoyable believe it or not. Robert adds in plenty of humor and keeps the really dry stuff as "light" as possible. He also decodes a lot of the legal and sometimes cryptic wording of laws/regulations. This book would be particularly valuable to anyone new to the industry but I also highly recommend this book for people in the industry. Once I finished the book I immediately took a practice test and scored a 71%. Not bad for my first time and having only used this book. I plan to buy his book for the 66 once I pass the 7 of course... good luck!!

I bought this book several years ago and I am just getting around to reviewing it now. It is an excellent book that I would recommend to anyone taking the 7. My firm required that I pass the 7 before even beginning working for them and the study materials were not provided. I bought this book and I am glad I did. It does a great job of explaining difficult topics in an easy to understand format. I studied very hard and read example questions online from other sources, but I passed the test very easy. If you are taking the 7 just buy this book. Consider it an investment in your future.

I am a Colorado CPA who had securities licenses (7.63.24.3) back in the 90's. Due to a change of the mortgage market, "ahem", I had to retest to get back in the business.

I took the 65 (85 % score), 63(90% score) and 7(90% score) and am pleased as can be with Mr. Walker's books. Not only do they contain the facts that are needed to pass the exams, but is actually presented in a format that you are still interested in, and awake by the time you get there! Really brilliant training materials. As an active license CPA I can only ask, when is he going to do that too?

Again, thanks so much. OUTSTANDING study materials.

This book is incredible... anyone that says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about. I used ONLY this book with only 2 weeks to study and got an 89! And I'm not that bright... trust me. I looked at other books and my eyes glazed over immediately.. I felt little hope. Based on amazon reviews I gave this book a chance. I signed up for the the test and only had two weeks to study (in between caring for my 3 little daughters and holding down a full-time job!) It was so easy to read -- it was actually FUN to read!! Very little on the test was not covered by this short, big print book! It seems impossible but it's true! He gives great memory joggers and keeps you laughing! Read this book, highlight a few things to remember, take a couple practice exams and you should be more than ready for the Series 7. Again, sounds outlandish but I am living proof.

Pass the 7 was a major help as a alternative reference material to the materials that my firm supplied me with. The format of the practice questions and how the author acknowledges multiple terms for one definition was great for understanding the material. The emphasis on the association of "real world" relationships was good. The book flows from one topic to the next and is a pleasure to read. I highly recommend this book to anyone preparing for the Series 7, especially if you failed the first time.
